Thursday 9th May
Well done to all of Class 5 for producing an amazing class assembly! You all worked so hard and I have had really positive feedback from all the staff at Linton Heights as well as parents. On top of this you also earned your marble treat today! :)
You delivered a really important message but had fun and added your own creativity to it at the same time.
Once again, a HUGE well done!
Friday 5th April
This week Class 5 have been busy planning their class assembly, which will be on Thursday 9th May. We would love to tell you all about it..... but you will have to wait and see it on the day!
Across the year group, we have been writing our very own space stories, which all have a key message running through them. We have even created our own picture books to go with our stories.
This week we also enjoyed our visit to the Linton church for our Easter service where we presented our ideas on the 'true meaning of Easter'. Whilst we wasn't at the church we created our own maps of different locations, these included: maps of Linton, our school, maps of the world and even maps of Australia!
Today, the whole school took part in an Easter egg hunt. We all thoroughly enjoyed our crème egg from the 'Table of Dreams'! We hope you all have a lovely Easter, remember we come back to school on Tuesday 23rd April!
Friday 15th March
As we sit here with red noses, tops and various other decorations, we feel lucky to have our family, friends and school to always support us. Amongst many other fun-filled things this week, we've been exploring some gorgeous picture books, all about space travel. We can't wait to get the chance to create our own books in the next couple of weeks. Also, we're really looking forward to getting our saws, hammers and set squares out on Monday, to start work on our lunar rover prototypes! Watch this space...
Welcome to the Year 5 blog!
At the beginning of the week, we wrote explanation texts for our purple write. Some of our ideas included, how unicorns really work, how pandas really work, how the Titanic actually sunk and until my parents told me...
This week we have enjoyed World Book Day. We had so much fun dressing up as different book characters, this included Bluebelle dressing up as a marshmallow!
We had a visit from a book binder, whose name was Dea Fischer, where we had the opportunity to make our own books. Other activities included: making our own stories, exploring our schools library, visiting the Linton library and attending the book fair.
In addition to this, some members of Year 5 had the opportunity to compete in a hockey tournament. According to Mr Penfold they all played really well and placed 5th overall.
We have had a fun filled week, with lots of different activities to enjoy. Looking towards next week, Class 5 have Forest School next Friday and Class 6 will be starting their preparation for their class assembly!
